Default blueprint rendering - what's this?

maybe i am ignorant, but can someone please tell me what a blueprint rendering is.

i found a site which deals with this matter: http://www.hpi.uni-potsdam.de/~doell...hitecture.html

but to tell the truth it doesn't satisfy me much and i still don't understand what is exactly meant by "blueprint rendering".

is this some new rendering technique or is it common?

    many thanks for any explanation!

i skimmed the text, but it really isn't clear what the heck he is exactly talking about. i think he needs to revise his language because the term 'read blueprints' means you have an understanding of the space, and understand all of the notes and line weights, what they mean ect.

it sounds like he is saying his sofware can cut a section, which then acts as a cad plan. which is pretty standard for cad modeling software.

Click the 'Blueprints' link on the left (under Ongoing Work), see if that helps.

Looks to me like "blueprint rendering" is nothign more than a perspective line drawing, like what you can get from a CAD program.

now that i see exactly what blueprint rendering is, it makes sense. it is more sophisticated than just a standard perspective line drawing. it looks like it combines shader, and ink 'n paint style line work. you could acheive the same effect in photoshop with a little handiwork, but it is useful, more so for product design than architecture.

Actually this can be easily achieved using Sketch & Toon NPR module for Cinema 4D and I bet you could do the same thing with Final Toon as well and Brazil R/S.

Blueprint rendering in this case is taking a 3D space and progressively (by layers) turning solid and occluding surfaces into rendered lines... allowing the viewer to experience the 'entire' structure rather than just sections, Animation or interaction based on a depth mask technique... sounds simple LOL

    Thats my take on it
