Paper Drawings to Max

If the building is multistorey and pretty orthogonal, I might be tempted just to measure it off with a scale rule (jotting the values on the drawing.) From experience, stacks of images in max can be a pain to work with especially getting them to line up accurately. You also end up having to guestimate the centres of blobs of ink and can end up with a very untidy model with all sorts of overlapping edges etc..

 

If you work from the paper drawings you'll probably make the correct assumptions about grid sizes, door and window sizes etc..

Yeah, I'd measure before hand. That way, even if it's not 100%, you'll be able to make sure it all makes sense (like when tracing, one floor height may look like 11'6", but the others are 12', so, more likely, they are all 12 - just keeps it looking proportional, which can get tricky).
