what happened to my textures?

Recommended Posts

Is there anyone who could give me a quick pointer as to what is happening with my textures. I can't work out what is going on. Cinema seems to be adding some form of jaggediness to all the textures. It's not noticeable from a distance (apart from the timber as you can see) but even the brick is getting some weird distortion.. Any suggestions would be gratefully received..

tried the blur tip but that doesn't seem to work.

It seems to be a problem with how the model has been exported from ArchiCAD - 3DS. The textures look fine on different faces but not on these ones. I've used the same textures in another file - modelled in Cinema and they seem to be fine.

When the objects are imported in to cinema they're tagged with the following tags (which I don't quite understand). A phong tag and also a UVW tag.

Confused as to why this is happening really as I've done this same process before and never had this problem

Looks like a low stochastic sampling poblem at first glance

Phong Tag, how the geometry is smoothed. If you have an inside corner of 45 degree angle- the phong angle below 45 will make the corner sharp (normal) above 45 will make it look rounded (smoothed)

Edge breaks, breaks the smoothing of the shader tag (phong) effect at edges of polygons

UVW Tag, allows the materials to be mapped using UVW coordinants, cubic, shpereical, planar......

I've had messed up textures after copying the texture tag from one object to another (drag-n-drop w/ [Control] held)

-try deleting the texture tag from the object, and re-applying it (draggin from the Material palette. You will have to re-scale the texture after this though.
