Matrox's New Blunder

Recommended Posts

Just a quick note....

There were some discussing a bit ago involving the new "Matrox" 3D card. Well the benchmarks have started to pour in, and the cards performance is...well abysmal. Its slower then everything else out currently, and isn't even on the market yet.

I'd avoid it at all costs, unless there is some specific application that actually uses one of its specific features. Both the R300, Geforce4 Ultra, and GF5 (NV30 I believe) are coming out very soon, and would be much smarter to wait for them, then to jump on a card that your ti 4200 will probably beat.

I could throw out some urls, but you guys know where to look pretty much :)

I'm sure someone at matrox got fired over that blunder.

isn't the new matrox card the one that supports the most, certainly not all, DX9 features? that would have been one of the very few points on the plus-side for the card in my opinion. ATI's upcoming R300 will have full support rumors to follow.

best,
