i downloaded it about 2 months ago from vrayrender.com, but that just links me to chaosgroup.com. the version i have does not leave a watermark or anything. i'm interested in finding out if anyone knows what the deal is.

try the "vrayfree" instead of the "vray demo" version. or better buy the package. but i suggest you try it first.

chandra,
neil is right, you will need to try the free versoin, not the demo. i have never used the demo, does it come with materials? if you use free, you will need to create your own, or get some materails from someone. it isn't really that hard to create materials.

I just downloaded VRay Free the other day, it's there, you need to log in to the Support section on the web site. It's missing some features but it does have a lot in there that makes it very useful - GI, reflection/refractions, skylight override - it's definitely got everything it needs to do the render you posted, quickly and without watermarks, just use it with default materials instead of VRay materials.
Thanks...Neil,shane,Anderw
I will check with the Vray free version instead of demo version.
In Vray version ..vray light feature (apart from other few )missing ..can i substitute photometric light for that???
thanks,
chandra.

I've been using regular lights with it, let me know if photometrics work correctly for you.
