Default Need help, BIOS problem

Hi,
Finally we bought two new machines : 2 Athlon64 X2 4200, each with Gigabyte GA-K8NXP-SLI mobo, and 2gb ram (2x1gb).

At first, the computers didn't recognize the dual core processor. So on one of them, I upgraded the BIOS from version F6 to F10 (using the @BIOS utility from gigabyte), and it worked... WinXP recognized both cores, and it's rendering nicely.

But when I tried to do the same for the other machine, it won't boot up. It emits continuous long beep, and can only boot using the backup BIOS (the mobo has dual-bios feature).
I've tried to copy the backup bios to the main bios, but still it won't boot-up using the main bios. Can anyone tell me what's wrong, and what should I do next?

I'm really puzzled, as both machines' specs are identical

Regards,
Harry G

Make your vendor replace it.

Thumbs up Re: Need help, BIOS problem

Found the problem!

it's the RAM placement... the guy from the store who installed the PC put them on DDR slot 1 & 3. I removed 'em, put in slot 1 & 2, and it works

i still don't get it why there's no problem booting when using the old bios

thanks for your help!

Cheers,
Harry
