Default 2006 Scene States - trouble?

My first attempt at scene states for materials worked great until I saved. when I opened the file, all the scene stated were gone and the materials in the Material editor are not "hot". Is this a common problem or should I try again?

This is another feature that seems to have great promise, but if its buggy I'll drop it now.

OK.....I redid my scene states and now the file wont open at all. This is not looking like a good feature. Maybe a new name for this feature is in order? Since this is a family show I wont share these. This feature is one of the main attractions for upgrading. I am on service pack 1.

I've been using Scene States without any problems. Did you try testing the Scene States with a real simple scene (maybe just a box and a couple of lights)? Just to see if the problems you are having are limited to the one file.

I just tried a simple box. saved 2 scene states, one for each material. It crashed while saving, and wont open the file....tried it again and it worked. I am getting a fresh new system this week (due to many other issues) with all new installs, maybe this will resolve it. Thanks for the repsonse.

Definitely sounds like time to re-install Viz. Maybe you have some corrupt or missing DLLs. Or even some WIndows OS problems.
