    Question Downloads and Programs

Lately I have been trying to find any good free downloads from the internet and programs at stores where I can start drawing 3D. I would also like to somehow see if there's anyway I can turn my simple Paintbrush drawings into more of a 3D design. Info would be appreciated.

Have you tried any 3D apps? There are free downloads of some good ones out there, such as a demo version of Cinema4D (maxon.net) or Sketchup (sketchup.com) or a "Personal Learning Version" of Maya (alias.com). Maya is probably the hardest of those to learn but the download is the best - this version is not time-limited (Sketchup trial runs for 8 hours then quits) and lets you save files (C4D demo does not) but it only renders at low resolution.

I second Strat's recommendation. Blender is great for just getting started and definitely the right price. There's a great community behind blender too and I've never had to much trouble coming up with solutions to problems I come accross.

Lots of good tutorials too to get started. If your in the same boat as me I started out using blender and then as resources grew, I was able to get into 3ds max. Lots of stuff I learned in blender helped a lot with learning max.

I would also second AJLynn's recommendation and download the free version of sketchUP. It's a lot of fun

    Good luck,

    Mike

Ugh. Yafray is way prettier. Also, there's the free Maxwellish one and the free one with a funny name that begins with a letter like K and has some good looking GI... you know what I mean, right?
