As you know everything has its cost and this time the cost is the rendering time that you are going to extend. Anyway generally the problem is that there is no light coming at the dark sides of your object, so you have to increase the bounces of the secondary illumination (quasi monte carlo is the default) or the samples. Another tip is that you could use a reflector (bright white plane to reflect the sun) or you can adjust the enviromental light (but this is going to make your brights brighter. Anyway post an image fo more details.
