importing problem

Hi to u all

 

ive developed a nice workflow of working w ADT & MAX and im quite happy w it (most times..) still i have a few problems, both of em not crippling but still id like to solve it (if possible)

 

1- when importing a dwg file (using 'import' or 'file link') MAX will ignore my requests to combine it by layer or colour (or anything else for that matter)

it only imports it as separate entities

 

2- i know MAX 8 has a new option of generating mapping cood's but for some reason i cant make it work. i know i can uvw my model but then wouldnt i be caving in to autodesk guys?(just kidding:D )

 

so any ideas will b most appreciated
