MarkC-UK
Sorry for the tedium, I guess this has been posted several times before. I've searched, found some answers but I still can't fix it. I'm using max 6 and created the door cut out using a Boolean subtraction and a standard primitive box. As you can see from the screen dump, I can select 2 of the polygons that make up the door opening but the 3rd (marked in blue) is missing. This is proved out when I do a quick render, you can see right inside the wall. I've tried using the cap holes modifier and all this did was cap over the entire door opening (i.e. 90 degrees in the wrong direction) I've seen on another forum that after window cutouts are created a command called 'bridge' should be used. What is bridge?? Even help doesn't list this command. Please, please, please put me out of my misery and try and fix my wall and it's poor missing face. Ta. Ricardo Eloy
Bridge is a command inside an Editable Poly, added in Max 7, I believe. It kindda connects 2 faces creating the needed faces in between, but I think it wouldn't help you. Why don't you simply create a new face where it's missing? It will take you like 3 or 4 seconds. But, if you allow me to make a suggestion, avoid booleans. You'd be much better connecting edges and extruding faces. Check Max's help for Editable Poly and you'll see what it's about. MarkC-UK
Check out the big brains on Brad:D Cheers for the tip Rick. In future I'll look at alternatives to Booleans. Thankyou.
jafs00
this only works if you add an edit poly modifier or if you counvert your boolean to a poly object in the edit poly settings you have the coices of point, triangles, border, faces, and object if I am not mistaken #1 select border. #2 draw a marquee around the missing face to select it, a red line will appear where the missing face is. #3 press the cap button, you now have a face where there was a hole.
