Iiyama Vs Nec

Ok here is the dilema which 19" monitor to go for?

the NEC 90GX2 at about £270+vat

or

the IIYAMA H481S or IIYAMA X486S both at about £185+vat

I think the Iiyamas look better and i have always brought their monitors and the cost difference is about £100 cheaper, but i also know that the NEC is a newer monitor so would appreciate feedback on peoples experiences and comments

ok someone else just threw the DELL Ultrasharp 2007WFP 20.1" in there at £250 + vat

anyone got one of these?

can't comment on the advantages of one against the other, but i can say that i run dual 19" Iiyama H481s at work and home and have no commplaints

This forum has alot of reviews and comparisons of various lcd's. It might be worth a search for the particular models you're looking for.

ok from all the reviews it seems to be much for muchness

the nec is newer and more expensive, the dell is widescreen and the iiyama has a good reputation and is cheaper

how the hell do you decide, what are the important things to look out for. I will be mainly using it for CAD and 3ds Max work with a bit of Photoshop too

I try and see the monitor myself before purchasing. If that's impossible, I search web reviews and forum posts for individuals who actually own the monitor. Best case scenario is you find someone you know with the monitor, who doesn't think its great only because they bought it and actually gives you a non biased review of the product.

Baring that, you want to make sure its using a newer panel (like super-IPS) and has a high contrast ratio, and good luminance value.

Most of the new panels have a 1000:1 contrast ratio, so anything significantly lower then that (like 800:1), tends to indicate a panel using older technology.
