    Default 3d games

any xbox 360er's out there playing Gears of War or Rainbow Six Vegas? I'm just amazed at the level of detail in the 3d modeling and lighting. I just beat Gears, and now I'm playing Rainbow Six Vegas and I'm just amazed at the size, environmental lighting effects, texture mapping, and total interactivity of this game. I don't even have an HDTV yet, but I'm playing them on a lcd projector on my condo living room wall and man!!!!! Picked up an HDTV today, waiting on delivery - can't wait. Next gen gaming is truly incredible!!!

Really have to appreciate the amount of work that went into these games! especially as a cg-arch person.

I'm playing Superman Returns right now and I'm very impressed with the quality of the game and the detail. My next game will be Gears of War after I beat Superman but I've seen the advertising for it and it does look very impressive!

I think next-gen console's engines are just amazing. I got Resistance - Fallof man on Playstaion 3. The model, animation, lightning, material details in the game are awsome.

hao, so did you sleep outside to get the ps3? I'm probably going to get one when they become more readily available. I'll tell you one thing, I have a lot of jobs I'm working on, and these games inspire me when creating visuals. someone has to come out with an easy to use realtime walkthrough application that is on par with these next gen games. What do you guys think? - oh yeah - just beat rainbow six vegas - what a great game!!!!

I have been so dissapointed in the games I have gotten for the 360. I am not really into the ultra-violence and I have found game play really repetative. I did like King Kong, I think you could tell that they rushed the game and it could have been better but I thought it had the most inspiring scenes I have played on a game. I thought cod 2 was good as well but a bit tiring to play.

yeah, I can see how some of the game play can be repetitive. - and the ultraviolence is somewhat desensitizing. I'm more amazed with environments than with the gameplay to tell you the truth. eh, it's also kinda cool to blow off a monsters head sometimes! anyone have the Wii? That Bob Ross game might be pretty cool

It would be interesting if you can export the file and use it as backdrop for renderings eh?

If you’re interested in environments then you have to see the Superman game for the Xbox360. Not only does it have a complete environment with clouds and haze but there are over 80 square miles of Metropolis that you can fully explore as Superman.

I read an article comparing the PS3 and the 360 and there are two main differences, the PS3 has more raw processing power, and the 360's video card is about twice as powerful as the PS3's. What that means is the PS3 can chew through data but has a problem displaying it which in the long run means better AI performance but the quality of the images you see on the screen is definitely handicapped especially in high definition. There is also a big question on how the blue ray drive will help the PS3, it is reading data at 2x while the 360 has a 16x DVD drive. It's true that the PS3's games will wind up with more content but you will have to wait 8 times longer to get at it and it won't necessaraly be in high def.

So many of the games I have played were weak environment wise as well I tried the FEAR demo and factory warehouse sites where there are bad guys around everyother cement wall and metal shelves with one box on it. I have played very few fp shooters but they all seem so cliched. Like all games are either trying to be Seven or Alien (the movies). Dark ambient and overly copied.

I have to say there were some great elements that I did really like in COD 2. There were scenes where the bad guy was hidding behind a cement wall but you could see his breath fog up in the cold.
I loved certain elements in Kong when you were running in a canyon and a stampede of Brontosaurus overtook you. Followed by V-rex or whatever. All of the talk about why people like games is about being a kid again. But really I think my imagination as a kid was much better than just walking down a dark corridor getting ready to shoot something that is going to say boo.
Reading this months National Geographic I thought almost any article would make a better game. The piece on Saturn was great. I would want to spend time in some of those stories.
    And you may ask yourself
