    Default Neha Kakkar - Story

As I studied the photographs and drawings of Dimitri Palace in Istanbul, my mind drifted over Sara’s letter I received a few days back. Sara, a smart and intelligent girl struggling today to keep up with life's challenges, my dearest e-friend, and the last survivor of a regal family of Ottoman Empire.

Dimitri Beg, the most trusted provincial governor of the last Ottoman Empire had spent his entire life serving the Sultan. After the abolishment of sultanate in 1923, all his personal worldly possessions were seized. He had lost his young son during the world war. His daughter-in-law could not bear the sudden loss of her husband and soon thereafter passed away leaving behind her 2 year old son, Ali. All that now remained with the family was the palace Dimitri Beg had gifted his beloved grandson on his first birthday and a small family fortune hidden from the public eye.

Ali grew up to become an expert in share market. He invested all the family fortune he inherited after Dimitri’s death in shares. Keeping up the family tradition, he passed on the Palace to his daughter, Sara on her first birthday. Sara was an attractive intelligent child. She always topped in every task she took up. At the young age of 18, she lost her parents in an unfortunate care accident. According to her father’s will, she was to inherit his shares only after she was 25, an age by which Ali had thought he would teach Sara all the tricks of trade. Now an orphan at 18 and with a just palace on her name and the source of family funds sealed off for seven years, she did not know what to do. Sad and broken hearted, she picked up the newspaper to take her mind off her problems for a while.

Suddenly, an article catches her attention…she sees a ray of light. Her eyes glittering with anticipation, she sits down to write a letter, her last hope...
