Hi All

I was hoping someone might be able to offer some advice on getting XYZ data into 3ds max more efficiently than the way I am currently working

I usually open these up into Notepad and do a find and replace for all the comma's "," for a single space " "I than save this out as a txt file and

Rename the file extension to .DAT. I am then able to import the file into 3DS Max using the terrain mesh import plugin "terrain2.dlu" the file comes

In as a mesh object, the problem I got is that the file I have just received is 35mb and even if I had my machine on for 24 hours it made no difference,

Kind Regards

Mark Miles

I think MicroDem will open native csv style xyz tiles, but I can't find a list of it's supported formats here.

The one I used was Global Mapper, which certainly had no problem at all with the UK Nextmap xyzs I had to use, just that they are quite a lot of data.... needed maybe 10 minutes to open a tile on my old P4. It exports nice quad meshes though, in lots of formats.
