Default Is FR ready for 2008?

I saw this morning that I had an e-mail from Autodesk stating that max 2008 is now shipping. So is there a version of Final Render that is ready to be installed for Max 2008? The question of course stems from the delay of FR for max 9.

Yes and no

3dsmax 2008 was supposed to be a none SDK breaking release so the fR for 3dsmax 9 install should work OK. It has recently come to our attention that this in not entirely true and there are some issues with color swatches that effect our fR Architectural material. We have been testing and using fR with 2008 for some time so this may be the only glitch we need to over come.

We already have this color swatch issue fixed and an SP that will include a "2008" install to be released.

Thanks

I posted on the cebas forum about what the FR status is for 2008, but I'll post here too. Any word? I read over there that SP1 should be coming out soon and it would be advisable to wait for that. Is that still the case and can we expect it soon?

Same answer here.

The MAX 9 install of fR currently available works fine on MAX 2008 with 2 caveats - 1) the installer doesn't recognise MAX2008 and MAX9 installed at the same time, so you need to do some INI editing to get this to work - there's a thread on the Cebas forums detailing how and 2) the colour swatch in fR-Architectural material is broken.

There will be an SP shortly - probably the next two weeks (definitely before Christmas) that fixes the bug and includes installer support for MAX 2008.

Thanks Matt. I'll probably hold on for just a couple weeks then.
