We gather here on this the 31st day of January, 2003, to honor a fallen hero in the battle for software survival...

Is there anyone how would like to say a few words in tribute?

PS As Jeff mentioned on the Lightscape board, there will be candlelight vigil held in Calgary this evening.

    Farewell, render-friend.

C++ to C++, bits to bits, direct illumination begets indirect. In your wake quads have no place, being slashes to triangle and block are just groups, open-source text-format filetypes shall be proprietary forevermore. You served us well, rarely crashed, and made digital images pretty again. You out-ran most others, but could not survive a knife in the back, few can. RIP

Actually, you will get no rest, Lightscape. I plan to use you up 'till there ain't any more code to use up. You will be my avenging angel--at least until I learn to make pictures without you.

    Well spoken.

...As the efficient gives way to the bloated, so too must progressive refinement yeild to the stochastic. Alas, command prompt, you are no more...
