have a dilema and I wanted to know if anyone could help. I'm an inexperienced 3d modeler/animator with a background in AutoCAD (14, 2000, 2002) who landed a gig doing 3d graphics/animations for an Earthquake Engineering Non-profit. I've been working with 3ds Max 5 for a couple of months, but havn't even had time to do EVERY tutorial yet. My boss asked me to do a quick animation of what happens to a wood 2x4 (sill plate) that is anchored to cement below and a wall. As the wall rotates, it causes the joined wood to follow, but since it is anchored to cement, the wood eventually gives and cracks underneath. Is there a way to animate this? Reactor maybe?....I need HELP!!!! and none of the books or resources I have found seem to help!!! At the very least, I was wondering if you have any tips for just cracking a wood beam.

Thanks in advance for everyone's help,
