France House - HDRI + LWF

Recommended Posts

This is a very old house in france someone is renovating into a vacation home.

I started with an hdri map and a vray light for the sun very low on the horizon. when switching to gamma mode, sometimes i find it to be a little too 'greyish' especially on interiors. for interiors i usually use color mapping because of the higher contrast. but i was thinking, is there a way i could get just 'half gamma' so it does not lose as much contrast. so finally i just set the gamma value to 1.6 instead of 2.2 and that is kind of working.

there is a lot of specularity right now, but i plan to add trees to cast a shadow right across the house, this will make the areas getting direct light really pop out.

still had to add a little contrast in photoshop, i will try bumping up the lights on max to see if this helps

I like it! looks very natural. if you are adding the landscape in photoshop or similar, try to match the green color a little more with the environment red/purple ilumination... I think trees and bushes could reflect a little more of the surroundings.
