meshing a closed spline

yeh sorry i sent the post before i finished so i'll finish . . .

i have managed . . . to do it by creating a plane with a number of segments, then drawn the spline, used shape merge, to 'drape' the spline over the plane, then with plane selected in poly sub-object mode, i inverted the selection a deleted unecessary polys to leave me with the meshed/capped/spline i'm looking for

that all just seemed a bit long winded to simply achieve a surface with quads within a boundary

thanks for the suggestion tho, was hoping there would be some form of script out there to do the trick, just looking for a button click as per usual :)

no the rounded edges can stay rounded, if you have btter solutions please share.

i tried using the subdivision modifier and i hate it, so random and untidy.

i tried to cap and then and edit poly, then select big poly and tesselate, kinda works but not really.

they are going to be landscaped mounds
