toxic/composite now comes with max?

Recommended Posts

Did I miss a fairly major announcement that composite (formerly toxic) now ships with max? When I downloaded max from the subscription center I had the option to install composite. Unless this is some sort of trial software or something like that I'm pretty stoked!

Yep. I messed with the version that ships with Maya about 6 months or so ago. It was useful, and node based, which is different from what I am used to.

It felt like there would be a lot of potential to incorporate it into the workflow pipeline, but I also would approach with caution, and make sure you don't make the pipeline more complex than it needs to be.

Just remember, Toxik is a compositor only. It does not output animation, only frames that have had render passes composited together. You still need a motion graphics and video editor app, but it should be easier to do things like velocity blurs, depth of field changes, post reflections, etc...

Could be fun.
