NPR works - Coloured elevation in 3D and 2D

hi all

thought to get some feedback on some of our latest work

 

the client wanted a one-point perspective on this elevation of a 4 townhouse site.

 

its a bit rough (especially with some of the people blending in) - but i could use some feedback i thought

First off I wouldn't use photo entourage for NPR renderings. At least use a few Photoshop filters and blending modes to make them look part of the image. Also you could just make them a solid white with a lower opacity and an outline.

 

Second the image needs some shadows. Right now it looks really flat and some shadows will ad a lot of depth and interest to the image.

 

You should list the software used so we can give you more accurate crits on how to improve the image.

Thanks Karl - good pont re NPR people .. i'll look into this ..

 

the work is mostly Photoshop - there is a 3D staircase in the middle blended in from 3D max rendered out through VrayToon to keep the linework.

 

we have put in shadows - but perhaps they are not very obvious

When I see NPR I keep thinking "What, National Public Radio is building a new headquarters?"

 

I always use realistic materials (real brick, real vegetation) for 2D, find it impresses the client more.

 

Stucco could use a little bit of noise and maybe some cloud shadow streaks going across diagonally.
