hi guys

i just went to the Royal International Air Tattoo in Fairford, England. anyone go along?

well, just a quick rant really -

i've been going to airshows all my life. usually you cue for an hour or so and thats it. This was totally different. I appreciate the events of Sept 11th mean greater security controls, but this was mad.

We arrived by 7.45am, and found out that the authorities were individually searching every single person, which meant cueing in the car for over 2 hours, then cueing on foot at the gate for over 2 hours waiting to be searched. wat a nightmare.

i just think this is going slightly overboard and being a bit too much paranoid. i mean, an over 4 hour cue time? considering there was like a couple hundred thousand people there is was complete bedlam. things will have to change next year for sure.

mind you, we did see a nice display. specially the hour when the B-2 (escorted by 4 F-15's), the F-117 and the B-1B all displayed in that order! most thrilling.

sorry no photos, only i dropped my camera on the way out on the tarmac and ruined all my film. arse.

Strat,

Yup, things have changed after the September 11th events and it might even get more crazy over the years. Have you seen Minority Report(the movie)? In that movie they display a possible future in terms of security. People are getting their eyes scanned all over the place, there are cops with the authority to invade peoples privacy whenever they want to no matter what you are doing. I know it is just a movie, but at the rate we are going I wouldn't be surprised if we are forced to give up all our freedom in order to be what the governments define as "free".

Well yeah... Hopefully most of us will be dead before that times arrives...

Speaking about films, anyone has seen 'Sum of All Fears'? My thought: I wonder why the US gives so much inspiration to terrorists for free...
