i'm rendering some test images w/ the demo in viz 4.

is it me, or is brazil just damn slow. i rendered

a 640x480 image of a previous project. it has

500,000 polys. it took 12 hrs!(500mhz comp)

i used min sample of 2 to get a good image.

what am i doing wrong?

i've heard brazil is suppose to be faster than viz.

is that true, if it is, how do i make it render faster.

also, do most of you use the brazil material or stick

with the standard material?

thanks.

Try setting the AA to undersampling. Like -3,-3 to start. and leave the View rate at 20 and the sec rate at 5. Start with 1 or 2 bounces also. That way you can evaluate the lighting first, since you know what your AA needs to look like in the end. Gradually increase these settings to achieve the rendering you want/need. Also remember the public test of Brazil is not even close to the quality of the 1.0 release. 1.0 has much more functionality and is much faster. The raytracer alone blows Viz out of the water.

Cheers!

I can't belive the quality of the GI, it seems so much better and more realistic than Final Render :(

Hope FR stage1 is better or my copy of FR is going in the bin im buying Brazil instead!!!

He he. And that's just the old beta! :) I think you'll find Brazil is much more stable and will ultimately, when comparing the two renderers, have better quality and features.

Cheers!

Craig... If you are evaluting rendeing engines, you can also try both the demo version of Vray as well as the free version. Demo has everything but the settings don't save and it is water marked, the free version is restricted with lots of features removed. It is very close to Brazil in terms of technology and settings, so all the over and under sampling things that you have learned will translate in Vray... plus it is cheaper (especially for farming since it is unlimited over the network).

Try it at:
