Found this on a vray forum, seems to be that the free one is stripped down, though the demo contains all feautures, indeed nothing formal on the vrayrender site, Finished up some work and had a little time to play around with the Vray free version. I tried the demo version (contains all of the features as opposed to the stripped down free one) a few weeks ago and wasn't all that impressed. You dont get: Vray displacement modifier, can not use Vray maps . It does not allow you to save and re-use radiosity solutions in case of a walkthrough. Which probably can save significant time in rendering walkthroughs. I think it also has a lot of other less significant settings disabled . I generally find workarounds for a lot of the omissions , would say the most significant one is the displacement mapping or modifier. It is fast and efficient, get it!
