Hello,

My name is Adam Zaka. I am Chief Art Director at VAIN Concepts; an advertisement and branding agency in Los Angeles.

Currently: we are working on a high fashion editorial for JUXTAPOZ arts and culture magazine, highlighting the "Gods Of Modern Animation"; featuring legends: Chris Columbus (Little Nemo, Harry Potter), Henry Selick (The Nightmare Before Christmas, James and the Giant Peach, Coraline) and Japan's Walt Disney, Hayao Miyazaki (Totoro, Spirited Away, Ponyo, Princess Mononoke.)

Essentially, we are going to clash the realms of high fashion with central themes from the films. We have pulled industry models from 3 agencies here in LA, who look like characters from the films. The characters outfits will be assembled with High Fashion, current pieces, which have the aesthetic of the characters outfits. Models, plus spot-on setting recreations by our art direction team. We are joining forces with Studio 838, who will be photographing the editorial.

Here are the models, please note their hair and makeup will be such as the characters they play:

LAUREN as Satsuki & Princess Mononoke (Wearing a large, lux, exaggerated white fur)

ASHLYN as Mei

MADISON as Princess Camille

DEVON as Coraline & Other Mother

We will be shooting behind green-screen and are looking for a designer capable of recreating the wonderfully detailed environments we've chosen from the films. We have attached concept boards for each setting we need backgrounds for. The models will need to be placed into the images in post as well, having them interacting with the environments you've created.

The key detail here, is the detail. This is JUXTAPOZ's first high fashion issue, all of this is happening because of this editorials tie in with the cartoons that inspired it. We have assembled a fantastic team so far, who are dedicated towards maintaining a high production value, and we want to work with someone who has a similar frame of mind. This is definitely an out-of-the-box assignment. However, it will give you an opportunity: not only, to have your work internationally recognized and seen by directors of the actual films, but also, just having the ability to recreate these masterpieces, with your aesthetic, some of animation history's most detailed and intriguing sets.

In regards to model incorporation, we are trying to have the environments incorporate the models seamlessly. Here are

some examples: 1 2 3 4

If interested, please feel free to reach me with your portfolios at your earliest convenience.
