Water Temperatures

Hi,

I am working on a project to show the temperature change of water as it moves through a lagoon.

I am using 3ds max and Realflow and I was wondering what the best way to show this would be.

It would be great if I could make the water that comes in, which is hot, red and as it cools and exits turn blue.

Any recommendations?

Thanks for all the help.

I don't know RF at all so I'm just skylarking...

change color over time - probably the easiest and least satisfactory.

change color over time modulated by slowness - assumes faster is staying together and not mixing therefore not cooling. Might be kinda easy and might actually look ok

same as above but use velocity not speed - catches fast eddies

write a heat exchange mechanism - no idea how possible this is. iterate particles. each particle moves temperature to the direction of the average of its immediate neighbours (note: I am not a fluids expert). It should be possible. Don't know what "getting neighbours" would be like. Suspect it's slow.
