[Max 2011] Viewport names and settings not clickable

I have problems bringing up the viewport settings menu in 3ds Max 2011. When I click on the + icon or the viewport name the menus do not appear. Why?

 

Edit: I just checked what will happen if I reload the UI scheme. I clicked "Load custom UI scheme...", choose the dark one and the problem went away. Unfortunately as soon as I restarted Max the problem was there again and the only solution is to reload the UI every time I open the program which is driving me crazy! Any suggestions on how to fix this?

I think I fixed it. I backuped the UI folder and then deleted it. Then I ran Max and it gave me some warnings that the UI files were missing so it loaded some default ones. Then I closed Max, placed the backuped UI folder back in Max and loaded the program again. The problem was gone. Pretty strange.
