Cloud data back up ?

Recommended Posts

I have it at home for my personal photographs. I didn't want the hassle of configuring hardware to backup files, and I didn't want to do it all manually either as I was likely to forget.

I use SugarSync, it's pretty cheep (under £5 a month) for a basic account, but it's more than enough for my current needs. The only problem is the upload speed is pretty bad, but that's my basic home broadband. I haven't tried to download my albums (I haven't had the need to yet, touch wood!), but I have tested the odd photo and it worked fine.

I guess it could be OK for backing up final files, but I wouldn't want to upload a whole project as the costs would become too large, not to mention the upload and download times. In the future all our work will be stored on "the cloud", but only when it becomes cheaper and faster than using local hardware. I guess even software will one day be accessed through the cloud too.
