Hallo,

I have question about specular maps in vray.

I don't know where i have to put them in.

I read a lot about specular maps, some people write that you have to put them in the Reflection Layer / in the "Reflection Glosiness map" , and some other people writes, that you have to put them in the Reflection Layer "Reflection Glosiness map" and "Hilight Glosiness map" So i spend my last two hours, playing with the specular map, and that ist my resul...

Maybe someone can tell me if i'm right?

Many Thanks!

It all depends om what affect you are trying to achieve. If you want some parts of the object more reflective than another part (say gloss tiles, and none reflective grout) then put maps in the reflection slot. If you want give contrete that half shiny, half worn affect, then I would put the maps in the reflection glossyness, because that is what would be affected in real life. The concrete has the same reflectiveness over all its surface, but some parts have been worn or polished more that other parts, so only the glossyness is affected.

I hope that helps! Deano

I understand what you mean, but let me ask one more think,

you write "put maps in the reflection slot" where is the option to put reflectivity map in the reflection slot?
