Keen098
Hallo, I have question about specular maps in vray. I don't know where i have to put them in. I read a lot about specular maps, some people write that you have to put them in the Reflection Layer / in the "Reflection Glosiness map" , and some other people writes, that you have to put them in the Reflection Layer "Reflection Glosiness map" and "Hilight Glosiness map" So i spend my last two hours, playing with the specular map, and that ist my resul... Maybe someone can tell me if i'm right? Many Thanks! http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/18/vraysettings.jpg/ Uploaded with ImageShack.us
notamondayfan
It all depends om what affect you are trying to achieve. If you want some parts of the object more reflective than another part (say gloss tiles, and none reflective grout) then put maps in the reflection slot. If you want give contrete that half shiny, half worn affect, then I would put the maps in the reflection glossyness, because that is what would be affected in real life. The concrete has the same reflectiveness over all its surface, but some parts have been worn or polished more that other parts, so only the glossyness is affected. I hope that helps! notamondayfan
I mean, but the reflection bitmap into the part of the material that controls the reflection. In 3Ds max they are referred to as slots, I'm unsure as to what software you are using. Deano
Keen098
I'm using Sketchup V.8 and Vray 1,49.01 for Sketchup. My Option menu in vray looks like in the "option picture" I ve post in these topic.
avvid
Hi Keen098. I never use Sketchup, but it looks like you need to use the blue "M" (that you've circled) at the very top.
