I'm not sure about the mother board , should I buy z68 or p67?

I will OC the cpu to 4.2 , is that too much ?

I won't use vray rt gpu , the gtx 580 is still best overall performance for this amount of money even though I'm not using cuda to render right?

MB: you want P67 when using a real video card.

OC: People talk about 4.2 ghz. No promises exist.

Video card: honestly, the 3gb 580 is what I recommend to people who use Vray RT GPU or similar, or who put a lot of emphasis on games. For everybody else it's overkill. Look into Radeon 6950 and Gefore 560 and 570.

I don't see why not. Just check that it has the outputs you need.

fwiw: for video cards, I like the EVGA GTX 570 HD with 2.5 gb's of vram. It's not the 3.0gb of vram on some GTX 580's but you're paying $165 more for 512mb's more of vram and only 32 more processing cores for the 580.

 

also, the z68 chipset has a nice feature "SRT" that makes great use of SSD's that might be of interest to you. From what I can gather, the Z68's overclock as well as the P67's.

Thanks Daron , Unfortunately the EVGA GTX 570 2.5gb is not available in Israel .

If the EVGA 2.5gb giving me any advantage I will order it from TigerDirect.

What actually the function of vram , its letting me load larger scene to 3ds max ? , or just making me able to render larger scene with vray rt gpu.

Oh, nevermind - I was confusing the Z68 with another Intel chipset that does not provide enough PCIE lanes. A Z68 is probably fine.

 

The 2.5GB video card is mostly useful when you want to run Vray RT GPU, iray or similar. If you're going to use one of those packages, you want a lot of video card memory per GPU - so if that's your priority, I'd look a 3GB 580 boards. If not, the regular 570 is fine. Try to buy from a company that distributes in your country, or check before you buy to make sure you can get warranty service.
