    Smile pro Boolean create problem

    Hi all,
I have some problem with pro Boolean
I have Auto cad file. I import some layers (3ds wall, window) in 3ds max.
Extrude wall layers then set windows layer(extrude & convert to poly)
then pro boolean window from wall. but when pro boolean & render then some where it looks black.I checked all vertices ,they are fine ,no edges moved
so, I can't understand how it remove.
I also pro boolean with box but same result.

I attached image with this thread
    Thanks

Does it render correctly if you apply a smooth modifier to it? With automatic smoothing?

Try this: After boolean creation, convert to Editable Poly - go to Polygon sub-object mode and select all the polygons (Ctrl+A) and then scroll down to Smoothing Groups and click Clear All.

I think this will work for you.

Also, once converted to EPoly, right-click view mode in any viewport and enter X-view mode and check for open edges, multiple edges and overlapping faces. Correct if you have to. You should end up with a solid, clean and un-smoothed mesh.

    Hope it helps!

ProBoolean often times messes up on the re-meshing. I find that when ProBoolean doesn't work, Boolean will. I would just try that.

Worse case, detach a face with the cutout you want, trace the edges, edit poly, the shell. I know it all more work, but i always prefer the little extra up front. It saves on the headaches down the line.

Sorry Corey, but I don't agree. Ever since I understood the logic behind the Boolean operations and the "rules" to be followed, I have never, and I emphasize "never" had a boolean messed mesh. And when it happens, I know I overlooked something, so I quickly go back and check my mistakes, correct them and go ahead with the boolean. I grant that I don't usually work with big and complex meshes but certainly similar to the one posted here and the logic for big complex meshes must be the same, so it should work nonetheless.

eh. so be it. I have yet to see an issue that everyone had the same answer for. This works for me, that works for you... we all get it done. My argument was simply that you can usually get one of them to work without much trouble|investigation.

The thing is I used to hate Boolean and Pro Boolean for the same reasons. I rarely got them right and I usually had to do extra work. So, here are some "on-the-fly" tips:

    - Tightly closed meshes. Check with X-View for integrity. Useless until nothing is reported. Same for all operands.
    - If one or more operands came from instancing or mirroring another object, use Reset X-Form before boolean.
    - If two or more faces of two or more operands are co-planar, make sure they are downright flat.
    - If one or more of the operands was scaled and if it causes problems, use Reset X-Form before boolean.

There might be some more things to consider, but this is what I came up with out of Max and in just a couple o minutes.

So, I hope this will help you an others becoming friends with Booleans.

    Cheers

    Hi,
    thanks
I also tried this & it works fine
    Thanks
In x- view mode check for open edges , overlapping faces it shows 'unsupported object type'.

    Thanks
