I have exterior scene & I use v ray camera & v ray sun & for sky I put map in environment(8) when render sky look dull.
my setting is
F number 8
shutter speed 60
film speed (iso) 50

It's because your using a bitmap. The bitmap will be treated as though it's in the background and therefore not lit by your sun.
If you want to do it this way, I'd advise you create a dome, or cylinder to put your bitmap on to and make this object not affect shadows in the properties of it. Also in the Vray properties tell it not to affect GI and lastly, make the bitmap RGB level higher than 1.0. Try something like 10.0 to start with and increase it until it's at a good level.
I'd advise you to render it in a way so the sky isn't in the Alpha channel so you can put your own sky in afterwards in Post Production. You can have it there for reflections in the glass etc though.

Both ways are useful and it depends on whether you are doing a still or an animation. Alternatively, you can leave it as it is and increase the output amount and the RGB level in the sky's Bitmap properties - Output rollout in the Material Editor.
