danb4026 Posted March 27, 2013 Share Posted March 27, 2013 Just saw a tutorial where they took an image out of photoshop, after doing some basic adjustments, and brought it into After Effects to apply the z-depth pass. Is there a reason to use After Effects for this, rather than apply the DOF in photoshop using Lens Effects? I don't use After Effects, so don't fully understand the reasoning behind this. Scott Schroeder Posted March 27, 2013 Share Posted March 27, 2013 Some people prefer AE for stills since you don't have constantly re-load new layers every time you re-render. Either just open your file or refresh and viola, new footage. Where they using any sort of plug-in? If they are just using the lens filter in AE, then yeah, I really see no need to go from Photoshop to AE. Can you post a link to the tutorial?
