Help in organizing work

It's what makes sense, that's how you organize things. There is no absolute golden rule for this.

A general guideline is that you want to keep like items all together. Say for instance, wood textures. Inside your textures folder, you'd have a folder called "Wood". Is there a need for sub-folders inside the main "Wood" folder? That's up to you. But at the minimum you want all of your texture files named as well. Even if you don't know the wood type, at least name it something like "dark wood" or "light wood" or something that lets you know what the texture is without looking at it in an image viewer.

my main advice after is dont overcomplicate your folder structures and avoid having really deep paths. thumbnails or models are really useful.

be ruthless with low res or bad assets - dont be a digital hoarder its absolutely pointless (archive them on a drive and delete from server)

As mentioned above, don't keep assets you aren't ever going to use, or at least move them to another folder. You only want your best assets in your library.

Other than that, I'd say make sure everything is named properly, so even if your folder structure isn't great, you can still use search to find specific files. And if you're working in a team, make sure everyone is saving files to the same places, and everyone is using the same naming convention!
