    Hi people!! this question might seem basic but ill ask anyway coz i know you guys can help alot. any of you guys can tell me the practical applications of linear and area lights???

    ive been using free point lights alot and i just found out you can use area lights to simulate cove lighting...

    what else can we do with the other photometric lights??

    i read it but unfortunately..it does not give any suggestions as to how to use area and linear lights. Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated.Thanks!!

    <looking at the obvious, area light is best used for light sources with x & y dimensions such as ceiling lights with diffuser or even the window of your scene. linear light fits as you mentioned for light source such as flourescent ,1d. Though you may use area light in leu of linear light, that do not take away the purpose that it is inteded for.
