CliveG Posted January 18, 2016 Share Posted January 18, 2016 I'm curious, is the image of the desired effect a real photograph? As to me.... it looks like a CG image already and not a particularly good one at that. I hope I'm right here, but I'd be looking to get a more convincing target image and aim for that rather than something that doesn't look that realistic in the first place (to me anyway). In the past I've had good results with actually modelling something like this, using plane lights with falloffs, but admittedly a much simpler shape so I'd probably be starting with similar to the above advise if it's a complex shape like your image.
