Gpu for two reasons :

1.) like to play heavy games at full HD.

2.) will be using Gpu rendering ( nuke , vray now support two cards ), sometimes cycles gpu rendering.

900$ or so is the maximum i can stretch.

FYI can buy GPU later.

With 900$ you can't make an upgrade both in cpu and gpu. The 980Ti alone costs more than 700$.

I'm not a gamer, but as far as I know it's better to invest in a single gpu for gaming. Sli has its problems (optimization issues).

When you say Vray, you probably mean Vray RT gpu, because Vray is basically a cpu renderer.

In your place I would start with a new cpu platform and add the gpus later. The 960 4gb is decent enough to buy you some time at present.

See something like that as a basis PCPartPicker part list / . I've picked a 850W psu in case you insist on trying sli config in the future. S2011-3 is more upgradable, that's why I think it's a better option for a designer that uses cpu rendering too.

PS: For gaming at FHD a 980Ti is a total overkill, I think. Consider buying this card only if you plan to upgrade your monitor to get a resolution of 1440p or higher.
