Texture mapping different from preview

Hi,

 

I'm using Vray 3 on 3dsMax 2015 and encounter a brand new problem (to me at least)

As you can see, the previewed checkerboard differs from the rendered one, in a really bad way. I've certainly missed/misused something as I'm far from a pro-mapper.
