How to create Abstract Axonometric 3d Views

Recommended Posts

The overall style in these examples is Non Photo Realisitic, or NPR. How it is accomplished depends on the software are you using. The simplest way to achieve something like this will be SketchUp. The fourth image that you attached is not axonometric, but carries the same NPR qualities of the other examples.

Getting an axonometric view using your software of choice is usually pretty straightforward and located in camera or view settings of the application. Additional terms that you may need to use to find this setting are Orthographic or Parallel Projection.

I agree with Francisco that it would be better to start in SketchUp, but if you are already in Max and VRay, Vray has a Toon Effect that can create the outlines. Then you just have to get creative with the materials, which could be done by hand as Francisco suggests to give it more of an illustration look.
