    Default i7 7700K or i7 8700K (3DMax Vray)

    Dear All,

I want to upgrade my PC for 3DS Max and VRAY. I am not sure whether to go in for i7 7700K or i7 8700K. i7 7700K has higher clock frequency compared to i7 8700K, but i7 8700K has 6 cores compared 4 cores of i7 7700K. A per my understanding, i7 8700K (6 cores, 12 Hyper Threads) would be more beneficial for rendering as Max and Vray can take advantage of 2 additional cores. I wish not to overclock the processor and run at the base frequency. How would you rate the below configuration?

    My Configuration:
    Processor: i7 8700K
RAM: 16 GB, (will put another 16 GB next month)
Display Card: GeFroce GTX 1050 TI 4GT OC

    Thanks and Regards,
    Laram

Go for the 8700K. More cores/threads as you said, and higher stock boost clocks (7700K has a 4.5GHz single core boost while the 8700K has 4.7GHz). You'll have faster speeds both in modeling and rendering (if vray is your rendererer).
Your system is fine. You don't mention the rest of the parts, like the motherboard, primary OS drive and psu. What's the RAM's frequency?

Hi Laram. I've made a list of parts that can be found in Amazon.in and are well suited for your needs. Tell me if this list is over budget, and I'll see if we can fix it. PCPartPicker part list

I think you should get a good air-cooler for this build, because you'll be doing renderings using the cpu. The Coolermaster 212 EVO is a cheap and very reliable cooler and its successor the 212X is slightly better too, but for this use the Noctua U12S should be the perfect match.

I couldn't find the GB z370M D3H in India. The Asus Strix alternative should be more than enough for you needs and its price is not too high I think.

    Sir,

Thank you so much for going out of the way and helping me. Appreciate it.

    Motherboard is available:
    https://www.amazon.in/Gigabyte-Z370M.../dp/B076YTD682

Instead of Noctua U12S, can I go for the below Liquid Cooler?
DEEPCOOL GAMER STORM MAELSTROM 120T AIO LIQUID COOLER
    https://www.amazon.in/gp/product/B01...=AXPHJ4KBOYXKY

    Thanks,
    Laram

Is there a particular reason you want to get a mATX motherboard? Do you have a small chassis? I would prefer the Asus Z370 Strix over this Gigabyte.

If you want a cheaper cpu cooler go for the CoolerMaster 212X https://in.pcpartpicker.com/product/...r-rr212x20pmr1
If you add a second fan for push-pull you'll get slightly better temps too.

Cheap liquid coolers are usually equal or worse in performance compared to air-coolers of the same price, but also produce much more noise, which will get annoying after many hours of rendering.

    Hello Nikolaos Sir,

I will go in for CoolerMaster 212X as you suggested. Regarding Asus Motherboard, there must definitely be something good about this board as you are insisting. Tomorrow I'll confirm with my vendor and see if it is in my price range and if Asus service centers are available. Once I confirm, I shall post my final list. Thanks again for assisting me and your invaluable suggestions.

    Thanks,
    Laram
