Hi everyone. This is my first new post. I've been visiting off and on for about one year though. I'm amazed at the quality of work here.
I'm mostly an amateur/hobbyist. I'm a CAD jockey at work most of the time, but occasionally they need a rendering. The attached image is an example of my "professional" work. I realize there are some errors, but I was the only one to notice them at work. I've falllen very far behind in technology, though. I model all my work in AutoCAD, take it to Lightscape, and then finally render it in 3D Studio VIZ 3i. I hope you'll tell me what you think. |

welcome aboard.
i want to say that i don't like the camera view, but i can't say that i actually mind it. maybe try pulling the camera to the right. almost so you are looking up and back, letting some of the window where the light is coming in show also. i don't know if that would be a better view, but like i said, i am not sure what it is about the view that i either like or dislike. this doesn't really feel like a lightscape rendering to me. the quality of the shadows seem to gray, and the colors to saturated for lightscape. i have never worked in t myself, but comparing it to my memory of other work i have seen from lightscape. |

Thanks for your reply.
I understand what you are saying about the camera position. I never thought about a different angle, because the text was a primary "selling point" for this design. With regards to the gray shadows and heavy saturation, I am pretty certain I bumped the brightness of the image up in Photoshop, because the architect felt the shadows were too dark. (I don't remember exactly because I did this last June) But, I guess the over saturation was just part of the translation into VIZ. I consider it a successful image, though, because it is the only extravagance that hasn't been made an alternate bid for construction. The school board insisted that it would be built. Quote:

Good effort.
I find the bump on the columns too large. I also was bothered by the view. I understand your point about seeing the text, and how you accomplished that. So maybe this view was what needed to bo done. But I would prefer a view from either more right (ala CHG) or (my choice) the left, camera swings to see the columns on the left, some hall on the right--get the 'entering' experience. |

Absolutely! That was a mistake on my part--I just wanted a light, sandy texture. Unfortunately, the superintendant likes the bump on the columns.
