    Default Time expected for finals....

OK, this question may be a bit tough to answer, but I thought I’d ask. I am interested in entering this contest. But, on the chance that I qualify as one of the top 30, I need to get a bit of information about the time needed for each image first. I would hate to take one of the top spots and then find that I do not have the time to execute the challenges the way they should be. Is there any way you could give us an idea of how complicated the challenges will be without giving away the nature of each challenge? I know a typical rendering of mine may take anywhere from 15 – 40 hours. Are the challenges likely to fall into this same time frame? I know it depends on the individual to a certain extent, but this amount of time can produce a nice high quality image. I’m assuming the challenges won’t be about rendering simple spheres or entire city blocks.
I just want to make sure that I would be able to devote the amount of time needed in order to be as impressive as possible.
    Thanks

I've had the same concern. It would be nice to get even an rough idea about how much of a commitment we are talking about.

Yeah that's the thing about having only 30 qualifiers. Half of them may drop before they even get a chance to be voted out. Then again, if they are good enough to get in the door, they will probably take it seriously enough to devote the time necessary to make a worthy competition.

Well it's tough to say how much time it will take as every person's skill level is different, but the descriptions given in the challenges section should be enough for you to estimate. The further details will just be a refinement of what has already been posted. The scope will not change much if at all.

    Thanks, Jeff.
The challenges weren't posted when i asked that question. Looks like it's going to be a great contest.
