    Default Any Modo users?

I've been hearing a lot of good things about it and wonder how quickly a guy like me could start learning something like this. My modeling skills are poor and I would like to be able to model my own furniture & organic models if I need to.

I know WDA has been using it. (ducky)

How well does it integrate into Max?

    Tim,

Go to the Modo site and download a 30 day trial. Looks like a great modeling program.

Also, take a look at Juan Gonzales' latest work.

    Tim,

    LOL..... gotta mention it........LOL
    There's still time...wink wink . Might be worth a C-note to possibly have access & training (but I can't really can't confirm or deny)-LOL

    Beyond that.......
Modo is really pretty easy to use because of it's workflow. I guess it comes down to how well you know modeling 'conventions'. Modo shines with Sub-D it's really slick. Probably what you'd like to use for furniture. It's a good polygonal & edge modeling tool also. There are a couple of tutorials on luxologies site about modeling buildings from plan images. I would check all of tuts out, if you haven't yet.

Not sure whats up with the test drive..got an e-mail for existing users to have access to a 30 day trial before the public has access. Don't know if a new version is coming out...or what??????

Import export to max can be done with a free .obj plugin. It's not perfect, then again it's not perfect in C4D either and obj is considered a native format. What you get from Modo to Max via .obj, is a mesh, that fairly closely can be smoothed (using nurms subdivision), after converting to polygonal mesh, to what it was in Modo.

Modo like any other app takes a little getting used to and time to figure it out on your own. If you feel you are a bit weak on the modeling skills Modo can help you get up to speed pretty fast, once you get somewhat comfortable with the interface, imho. Then you can almost model using the same techniques in any app. For me, Modo was the "master key" that unlocked a whole new world of modeling techniques that can be used in Max, C4D, XSI...... But it's a bit quicker in Modo 10%-30% as a general rule. Tha's why I purchased it.

Luxology and Modo are really on the right track in many different ways. I feel because they are really user based and supported!

Well that's my $1.25 on the subject
