I just bought the latest Multiscatter and for some reason it doesn't render any scattered objects in Vray - though Mental Ray has no problems. Clicking 'generate objects' in the utilities menu imports the scattered objects which then render fine with Vray - though this is not practical for large poly counts.

I've emailed Multiscatter's developers a number of times and they don't seem interested in answering.

Hello everyone,

I'm pleased to announce that Bloom Unit is entering into an agreement with Evermotion to host many of their catalogues inside our plugin.

This means that using our proxy technology you can place a simplistic, low poly representation of an evermotion model in your scene, which is linked to the full, high detail model in the cloud.

When you start Bloom Unit rendering, you'll see the full detail Evermotion model in your scene. No other rendering plugin offers this level of interactive high quality rendering, while not bogging down your system with massive polygon counts.

You can read more here;
http://www.bloomunit.com/evermotion/
http://www.evermotion.org/tutorials/sho ... bloom-unit
For up to date information keep an eye on our facebook page;
http://www.facebook.com/BloomUnit

We're excited about what we can do with Evermotion's amazing models, we hope you are too!

Hello All...

I'm looking for some tips on applying road markings at intersections. I'm using Gradient Ramp and Masking to create road lines on the main part of the road, but scratching my head on what to do at the intersection where the lines fillet together and there usually are other markings as well such as stop bars, lettering, crosswalks, etc...

My thoughts so far are: 1) create additional polygon geometry at intersection and use multi/sub-object materials with map channels and different UVW's. 2) Create additional objects that sit on top of the road surface that will get the materials or 3) Photoshop the intersection linework in an image and then apply image to geometry with Unwrap UVW's. I'd love to hear some input on how you might accomplish this? Hopefully there are some easier and more elegant ways to accomplish this.

One other question... How do you guys apply multiple bump maps to an object. For instance, sidewalks? Using a bump map for the texturing the concrete and another bump map for creating the expansion joints with gradient ramp. Right now I am using Composite Map in the Bump map channel and then blending the two together with different opacity and blending modes. It works, but again, is there a more elegant way to accomplish this?

Thanks for any input and attached is an unfinished image of the road intersection.<a href="http://forums.cgarchitect.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=49400" title="Name:

Hi everyone.

I'm having difficulty finding a solution for my problem and I'm sure there is someone out there who knows how to solve this!!!

I have an animated film which I'm trying to make poster for!
The poster is going to be A1. Of course needs to be highest quality, no pixilations!!
One of my friend suggested 600DPI! but I dont even know how! as I don't deal with vector! the image I'm using is a still from my film! and my film is a full HD 1920*1080
But I'm guessing even though this is full HD for film, it isn't sufficient for printing?

Any way I can make this work? or do I have to create the image again on a higher resolution?

I greatly appreciate any advice.
Thanks

Our company is looking for a HIGH END 3D workstation solution and we are not all on the same page.

I am pushing a BOXX workstation and others have pushed Dell and the Teradici rack mounted workstation. I am unfamiliar with this style of working. Obviously I would have some minor concerns with the remote access to the station and how the performance would be versus a station that is set up typical at your desk.

If anyone has knowledge on this style of workstation that would be great to fill me in. I would guess our ideal solution is to build an in-house system that can handle high resolution renders 4K or greater, scenes will up to a billion polygons and obviously we would like to see no lag in the model workflow while doing this. Our budget may allow $20-30K for this.

If any large scale visualization artists can give me some feedback that would be great.

Currently working on am under-powered station that is just killing the workflow (not bad for small stuff, but when we have the types of projects we work on and the amount of projects going at once....its not good)..see as follows:

Intel Xeon @3.40 Ghz
16GB RAM

Hello all.

This is only my second 3ds Max V-ray rendered model but it's an important one, as this is the final project of my architecture degree.

I'd like to make these aluminum shingles you see in the attached image. I have them drawn on a CAD file already and was thinking about drawing them then instancing each one to ensure i get a nice varied facade when I come to render. But this seems quite labour intensive. What if I were to create polylines for each shingle in CAD and then use the extrude modifier? Or is it as simple as creating a V-Ray material. Wit my deadline ten days away I though it best to ask for some expert advice before I risk wasting valuable time doing the wrong thing.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
