A good architect can come out with some simply outstanding renderings even with limited or potentially weak resources. So, it really doesn't matter whether you use Maxwell, Vray, Rhinoceros or 3DS, if you are good at your work, and have the capability to deliver as per your client requirements.

There is no thump rule as such in organizing work. Just go by your priority at work, and make it a point to properly save and organize all your important max files, textures, models, and other stuffs first.

The new Windows 8 operating system is faster than Windows 7 in certain aspects including start-up time, wake-up from sleep, shut down time, web browsers performance, multimedia performance, sending large file and MS excel performance, but it is slower in high resolution gaming, and 3D graphic performance. Yes, I do agree that battery life in case of Windows 8 has been improved noticeably when compared to Windows 7.
