  1. I've got a GTX 1080 GPU in my workstation and (3) Titan X's in a new BOXX slave. I'm trying to set up VRAY RT with a the most flexibility and I'm unclear how to control which GPUs are used when... I thought I should be seeing all 4 GPU devices in the "VRAY RT Render Devices Select", so I could uncheck the card driving the viewport, but I'm only seeing the 1080 that's physically in that machine. If I turn on DR to access the 3 Titans and uncheck the 1080 the render fails; If I turn on DR to access 3 Titans and leave 1080 checked, It uses the 1080 and viewport performance degrades. (VFB has warning ...UI might be sluggish") My question is why aren't Titans showing in device list, but working in DR? And how do I not use the local GPU for rendering?
  2. http://www.okino.com/mainpic13.htm great tool, fair price & hands on personal support from author defaults work well for STP to MAX, but by playing with many options, you find plenty of control both for optimization & topology
  3. When using KRPano, how are you converting the 12x1 from vray to stereo panos? Manually via photoshop, renaming etc? or has someone developed a "12x1 droplet"? Last time I checked, the unfortunate answer was "manually".
  4. 12X1 STEREO CUBEMAP VIEWERS? I'm looking for a workflow to get from VRAY 3.2 stereo cubemaps to oculus DK2. I'm familiar with the virtual desktop & environment editor, as well as webVR+KRPANO, but looking for other options.
  5. I've been asked to gather both examples and methods for assembling a large scale virtual building tour. The content will be all max/vray. I'm looking for ideas more current than linked panos & QTVR, but not heavy programming. Touchscreen? ipad w/ apple TV to large screen? Unity/Unreal solution probably won't work, because of VERY large dataset. (think aero manufacturing) All ideas/examples are welcome.
  6. I recently had a similar problem (low cpu usage). After much testing, isolating, tweeking, etc; I finally found the culprit to be a bad photometric .ies file. No idea why, but after switching, all was fine. That was w/ max 2015 + vray 3. Not related to materials, but worth a test.
  7. Does anyone have any info, technical or anecdotal, about running max/vray in a pc over ip environment? The large, multi-location, firm I work for is rolling out a centralized, virtual desktop solution; primarily for admin and revit users. MAX was not part of the testing and my questions are too many to list. VRAY/plug-in licensing, network & distributed rendering, location of render-time assets, and most of all, performance???
  8. I'd love to hear peoples $.02 on spinning off an existing arch-vis department into an entity that offers services to outside, non-competing clients, as well as, continuing with in-house support. Do you think an autonomous identity helps or hurts? (name, logo, etc) Any successful examples? failures? Any anecdotal info would be helpful. Thanks
  9. Roy, I also like your Loft walkthrough... The nube question I have is, how do you get from unity to the ipad you show in your video? I like the ipad navigation with the 2 thumb circles. I'm going from MAX to free Unity3D without a problem, but can't "build" to iOS from a PC. I am not trying to publish a game, just walk through a building with a client, realtime, on an IPAD.
