  1. Hi, Can anyone please recommend a good book which focuses on art theory geared towards architectural imagery, composition and colour? Doesn't necessarily have to be CG based. Thanks, Andy
  2. Chris, the table is Poul Kjaerholm's PK61 coffee table designed about 1955. Can come in a variety of finishes including slate marble and glass. The 3D model can be downloaded from http://www.fritzhansen.com/ The couches are by Mark Goetz designed for Herman Miller. It comes in a variety of finishes including walnet, ash, ebony and cherry as shown, leather or fabric. The 3D model can be downloaded from http://www.hermanmiller.com/ Andy
  3. jysngltndz: there are recessed ceiling spots around the perimter of the room which are out of camera shot The double doors are hinged to swing out - door handles etc to be added...
  4. Thanks for the replies. kicks: Couch is the correct height. The glazed double doors are 2050mm high x 1950mm wide which open onto the balcony. trhoads: the splashback to the rear wall is a matte stainless steel sheet. The client requested it be a dull finish, not shiny. A little blurry though... I just noticed that the supports are missing from the shelves. Images are now larger. Andy
  5. Hi, I thought I'd post this up for some critting before handing over to the client. The project is a flatted development, images are to be used for marketing the project. Software: Viz 4, Final Render Stage 1, Photoshop Hardware: AMD 3Ghz Barton, 1.5Gb ram Render time: internal = 1 hour 45 mins including lighting solution at 1600 x 1200, cutaway = 2 hours 15 mins incl lighting Thanks, Andy
  6. Try http://www.turbosquid.com They have a great resource of ready to render models, Andy
  7. Has anybody here used this product? If so I am very interested in some feedback. If its as good as they say then it looks like a necessary purchase. Andy
  8. interesting article here: http://www.extremetech.com/print_article/0,1583,a=121163,00.asp which benchmarks divx, wmv, quicktime/sorenson & quicktime/mpeg4 personally i compress to divx for quality and include an mpeg-1 version on the same CD which should be viewable on any machine. Andy
  9. Quite fancying one of these for the house - hows it working out for you? Andy
  10. Thats pretty impressive. Can you post specs. & rendertimes for your scene? Might have to get into Vray yet. cheers, Andy
  11. Sounds familiar. I recently completed a project where the client wanted everything presented as 3D imagery and animation so that the various committees and staff involved we able to visualise the project easily. Trouble was that we were designing it at the same time. The client agreed to the higher costs due to the presentation style and we were paid on a time basis. So the 3D's developed as the design progressed. Once the design was complete and the final presentation format was signed off we finalised the last set of stills / animations and added the finishing touches. If you have to sell the idea of 3D to them then see where they're coming from. Figure out if the benefits outweigh the down side. i.e. will it increase profits & public perception & credibility / advanced marketing / less design defects versus increased overheads / additional resources.
  12. Hi Muzzy, try these tips & tutorials by Nicholas Gennette: http://www.kicrea.com/articles/plugins/fR_Stage1/tuts/Tips/Tips_us.php http://www.kicrea.com/articles/plugins/fR_Stage1/tuts/special_enlighten/Enlighten_03_us.php hope its of help, Andy
  13. Hi Tony, Best option is to grab your camera and take your own pictures. That way you wil get the right perspective you need, as well as any reflection images looking the other way and it'll be original instead of using someone elses. Andy
  14. Hi Erl, if you are going to update it then chamfer the edges to the beams slightly to make them less harsh and give a better specular quality. Andy
  15. Hi Angelo, http://www.mearns-gill.com/ is an advertising company here in Aberdeen. The site is a little bit different aiming for a high level of interactivity with small details keeping it interesting. hope its of help andy
