  1. Thanks for the comments Guys! I agree that the 'blotched' B+W image could do with a tweek. I did the lighting using 'fakeosity', ie. a dome of lights around the model. My next mission will be to try out VRay and see what results I get. Ifty
  2. Views of a new Sports/Fitness centre in Salford, UK. Ifty
  3. Hi Martin Walker, Saw your post and was wandering what kind money is being offered in Leeds, as I currently work as a Senior Architectural Technologist in Mancheser. Although I'm quite happy with my current position (permanent), I would be tempted if & when general contract rates break the £30/hour Ltd. barrier!! I think It may be another year or two before I see this happening, what do you think? Regards, Ifty
  4. Check out.......2advanced.com Fun to look at........just for the "flashy-bits" !! Ifty
  5. AJLynn, I'm using Max 8 with VRay 1.46.15 (I think!), As soon as I open the max sky-rig file, the 3ds program 'burbs' out the messages shown above and ends with all four v-ports 'blank'. If someone could save the file as Max 8 with the above Vray edition, that would be great!! .....or maybe I'm asking for too much?? Regards, Ifty
  6. Hi Guys, I get the following messages when I open the above (downloaded) file....... I presume I need Vray....Right ???? Ifty
  7. Okay then................ I've done that and got reflection on the windows (mirror effect). How do I now turn it down (ie. I'd like to turn the effect down similar to turning down the opacity of a material to about 50%) Can't seem to find the OPACITY button !!!! Help! Regards, Ifty
  8. Hi everyone, Here a building I'm working on. I've been using this as a learning curve to play with lighting, materials etc. I'm using 3DS Max 8 (scan-line rendering). Can anyone tell me how to get reflections of buildings/trees/cars in the glass windows without having to put 3d models in ??? Any advice appreciated, thanks. Ifty
  9. Some interesting points have been raised above........ I've come to the following conclusions while recently looking for new employment in the U.K. and also abroad (Dudai). 1. For me to advance both professionally and fianancially in the architectural industry I'll have to go back to uni sometime in the future to finish my architectural training. I don't want to be a 'CAD Monkey' all my life and hope to progress to Associate/Director level positions later in life, and therefore a degree is a MUST !! 2. To secure a well paid job in the middle east you need over 10 years experience (I have 7 years) and preferably have an undergrad. & post grad. degree in Architecture. Sorry, as this is an 'architectural' perpective, but if you want to do a course focusing in 3D visualisation (specifically) within the architectural industry in the U.K. then I whole-heartedly recommend any of the following degrees: MSc Architectural Computing - Strathclyde University (Glasgow) MSc Virtual Environments - UCL (London) MSc Digital Architecture - University of Newcastle Upon Tyne Regards, Ifty
  10. "is it true that one pepsi cost 1 pound ?" If you go to Farmfoods (superstore), you can get 4 cans of Pepsi for £1 !!!.........well you can in Manchester anyway! PS. I think you should be asking for at least £35,000 minimum........I would'nt go to London for anything less. You should also check out Manchester > cheap rent, cheap council tax, cheap curries, cheap travel & cheap Pepsi !!!! All the best. Regards, Ifty
  11. Good thing I didn't join Ian Simpsons office then, eh ?!! Ifty
  12. With my design training, I feel I have the 'creative eye' to become a successfull PORN DIRECTOR !! Just need someone now to take me on as an apprentice........ Ifty
