  1. Quick question for you. Why do you need a web based solution, do you try to avoid that the client needs a FTP client? If so, keep in mind that AFAIK web based solutions do not support resume of uploads, which can be pretty useful for bigger files. Just curious tho. ;o) edit: Looks like I'm a bit oldskool. I quickly checked and of course you can resume uploads per http with java/flash and what not. *whistle* take care Oleg
  2. @jorisAR You could also try to save it as .obj and then use a Ruby script to import it. AFAIK the script works "so lala", but you can give it a try anyway. ;o) SKU OBJ import: example : download take care Oleg
  3. Hey Raffaello, watch out, some "older" chips do NOT support "full speed" if all RAM slots are used. I had that problem with my old PC and had to change the RAM from 400 to 333 Mhz. Just a thought, maybe it's the same issue with your PC. But I have no clue about the opterons and there memory controller. ;o)) take care Oleg
  4. Erm, ... hold on, you're saying that during rendering 3dsmax has ~99% CPU usage but the PC is still 50% slower then the other two PC's? *wondering* take care Oleg
  5. Hi Matt, well I guess you checked it already, but I've to ask anyway. Did you check the processes in the taskmanager, maybe something eats up one core of the CPU? And what comes to mind next, does the node render with as many buckets as it should? If so, did you check if 3dsmax is running on ~99% or just on 50%? And somehow I do remember vlado mentioned that, if you use 3dsmax 9, it asumes that you have just one core or something like that and it was needed to push max to use all cores ... dunno if this is still the case with all the updates lately. Hope this is a start, ... hehe! ;o) take care Oleg
  6. Hello Cristobal, I'm afraid, as far as I know ... no way to do it. And a lot of people wonder why. :? take care Oleg
  7. Hello Nitin, I'm not a 3dsmax master, but as far as I can tell, there is no way to change that, at least not through the 3dsmax interface or script. So I'm afraid but you have to get used to it the way it is. I know sometimes it's a pain in the butt to keep in mind, that different software uses different setups, especially for the input but I guess it's good to keep your mind flexible ... trust me, hehe! :D Good luck, you will get used to it! ;o) take care Oleg
  8. Heya Andrew, as far as I know you have to control the level of reflection with the intensity of the HDRI in the material editor. The spinners in the environment tab don't work in this case. ;o) take care Oleg
  9. Hmm, ... I would guess your wall/ceiling has a high reflecting material with a fresnel falloff applied to it. Does it? ;o) take care Oleg

    Look-At Constraint

Heya Mihai, just take a look at scriptspot.com and do a search for billboard ... I guess you'll find what you need. ;o) take care Oleg
  11. Hmm, start the backburner monitor and just closing it does the same. ;o)) take care Oleg
  12. Heya Andrew, take a look here ... klick take care Oleg
  13. Heya Piolit, you could update to V-Ray 1.5RC3 and use the new option (Affect specular) in the V-Ray lights and turn it off. If you can't update right now, ... well I guess the easiest way is to exclude the glass wall from the light. Don't know another option right now. Hope this helps a bit. ;o) take care Oleg

    Vray materials

@flooatz Hmm, ... if you use textures - you've applied UVW mapping, don't ya? take care Oleg
  15. Heya Brian, as far was I do recall you could install VRay to an UNC path and then include it in the plugin.ini file, then copy the needed files that will be installed to the maxroot dir to another UNC path and put this path into your env. variable. If I'm not wrong you'll be set. ;o) take care Oleg
